The cultural association “Musica e Sofìa” was born in 2018 from a deep love for music, the arts, beauty and knowledge. The main purpose is primarily to promote classical, symphonic and operatic music, through Concerts, Conferences, Listening Guides, Lessons.
The name of the Association follows the title of a book by Aurelio Canonici, dedicated to the great romantic composer Richard Wagner. In this text Canonici “reads” Wagner’s work as a fusion of very high Music and very deep Sofia, philosophy; in other words, art of sounds and esoteric wisdom, fused together.
The “Musica e Sofìa” Association relies first and foremost on the professionalism and competence acquired in Italy and abroad by Aurelio Canonici, conductor, composer, divulger and teacher. For some years now Canonici has dedicated itself with increasing passion to the dissemination of great music, offering listening guides at theaters, festivals, multinational companies, schools. He has held conferences and lectures on orchestra conducting, composing, leadership and various musical topics for institutions and societies such as: Santa Cecilia National Academy, La Sapienza University (Rome), Teatro Eliseo (Rome), Teatro Vittoria (Rome ), IBM, Telecom Italia, Ravello Festival, Richard Wagner Association (Venice), Feltrinelli (Rome, Milan, Turin, Naples), Marco Besso Foundation (Rome), Price Waterhouse, University of Salerno, Salieri Academy (Legnago), Russian Center of science and culture (Rome), Salone del Mobile (Milan), Italian Cultural Institute (Warsaw).
Aurelio Canonici has conducted symphonic concerts, operas, sacred and contemporary music, soundtracks in: Austria, Bulgaria, South Korea, Germany, Italy, Moldavia, Poland, Romania, Spain, Turkey, Vatican, Ukraine, Hungary. He was artistic director at the Ravello Festival. He has composed soundtracks for RAI. He wrote a book on Wagner’s music and one on Rossini’s. He is Professor at the Conservatory of L’Aquila.
